European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN), Board meeting and conference on youth crime prevention
9 - 11 December 2009
Stockholm, Sweden
The EU Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) was set up in 2001 to promote the exchange of knowledge on and experience of crime prevention methods and activities. Through the EUCPN, experts, practitioners and representatives of the governments of EU Member States are able to establish direct channels of contact, take part in the direct exchange of experience at meetings and conferences and actively contribute to indentifying effective crime prevention methods that can be discussed and shared via a joint website. As the country holding the EU Presidency in the second half of 2009, Sweden has the task to organise the EUCPN's annual conference for the exchange of good practices and experience to prevent crime. As usual, the conference will be held in connection with the European Crime Prevention Award (ECPA) ceremony.
The theme of this year's conference is how to prevent and fight crime targeting and committed by children and young people. Special attention will be paid to present and future challenges in three areas that are important for these groups: school, cyberspace and recruitment to criminal groups. The programme includes lectures and seminars with speakers from several Member States.
The conference will gather approximately 250 policymakers, officials, practitioners and researchers from the Member States, candidate countries and relevant organisations to discuss how to successfully fight and prevent the type of crime and victimisation that is the focus of this year’s conference.
